Who we are:

Plant Utah is a church planting movement committed to making disciples and planting churches in cities in Utah that are less than 1% Christian. Some of these cities do not have a single evangelical Christian church of any denomination. This is a position for a worship leader at Utah Valley Church, one of our church plants. Utah Valley Church is an independent Christian church located in Spanish Fork, Utah. Our city is around 40,000 in population and is more than 90% LDS (Mormon).

What we’re looking for:

  • A person who is following Jesus, someone who has made a conscious decision to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior.
  • A person who is being changed by Jesus through an authentic growing personal relationship with Him.
  • A person who is committed to the mission of Jesus, to make disciples through authentic relationships.
  • A person with an interest in planting churches in unreached places.
  • A person who has the heart of a missionary, an interest in cross-cultural ministry, and a willingness to connect relationally with people from the LDS religion.
  • A person with sound Biblical theology whose understanding of God’s Word shapes and guides his/her decisions and selection of music.
  • A gifted musician with strong vocal and instrumental ability who can effectively lead the congregation and fellow musicians to worship God through a variety of musical styles.
  • A creative artist-adventurer who consistently demonstrates a bold, creative, and missional spirit that desires to make God’s glory known.

Job responsibilities:

  • Be a disciple who makes disciples in the context of authentic relationships.
  • Be willing to lead or help facilitate a missional community/life group.
  • Lead the congregation and worship team to use their voices and instruments to worship God consistently and effectively. He/she will fulfill the role of lead worshiper in at least 50% of all worship services.
  • Recruit, train, and organize all instrumental, vocal and technical worship team members.
  • Oversee all areas of the worship ministry at UVC.
  • Produce 2 to 3 annual special worship events or musically oriented outreach events in line with our vision and mission.
  • Coordinate the worship ministry with the other pastors to fulfill the purpose and strategy of the church.
  • Be a spiritual leader for the worship team(s).
  • Commit to working an average of at least 15-20 hours a week with a few exceptional weeks where more time may be required to cover special worship/music events.

Compensation:

Initially, financial compensation for this position will be made possible through missionary support. It is a part-time position and the candidate will be encouraged to work bi-vocationally in order to develop relationships within the community. Plant Utah will assist greatly in helping you raise your support.
